Department of Health are seeking a Provisional Psychologist or Psychologist to join the Family Violence Counselling and Support Services - Child and Young Person Program (CHYPP).
Join a passionate, dynamic and supportive team in providing counselling and support to children, young people and their families who have experienced family violence.
Please note this position is dual classified and is also being advertised as Psychologist (517844). Only one position will be filled on merit.

The role:
- Assist children and young people to recover from the effect of family violence trauma through the delivery of developmentally appropriate specialist psychological services and therapeutic support.
- Undertake appropriate forms of interventions within family violence, trauma and attachment frameworks in line with evidence-based practice and contemporary therapeutic models.
- Undertake psychological assessments of children, young people and their families using standardised assessment methods.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, case management services and, if necessary, referrals to appropriate agencies.
- Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, including group programs and sessions for clients of Children and Young Persons’ Program (CHYPP) and Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS).

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker positions working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Location: North West - Tasmania
Salary:
$73,834 - $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
- Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Working with Children Registration
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
