About the role

WorkPac are seeing a motivated Geologist to join the Resource Development team at Rio Tinto Iron Ore on a 5-month FIFO contract. Based in the Pilbara on an 8-days on, 6-days off day-shift roster, the successful candidate will conduct geological data collection through RC and Diamond drilling, contribute to data validation and modelling, and work within a close-knit, safety-focused team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in daily safety interactions and field procedures

Perform RC and Diamond core logging (in-pit and ex-pit)

Conduct geological sampling and QAQC

Interpret downhole geophysical data

Input data for use in geological modelling software

Comply with technical and operational procedures

Skills and Experience Required

BSc in Geology, Earth Science or equivalent

1–2 years of experience in Resource Development or Exploration (iron ore preferred)

Knowledge of Pilbara geology desirable

Experience with geological QAQC and data validation

Proficiency in Leapfrog, Vulcan, acQuire, and Excel

Understanding of HSE systems (e.g. JHAs, pre-starts)

Manual WA C Class Driver’s Licence

Strong communication skills and team orientation

High attention to safety, with resilience for remote FIFO work
