About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay has exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Ward, in a permanent full-time position.
Mater Private Hospital Mackay has been providing excellence in clinical and pastoral care to the people of Mackay and surrounds since 1927. Located on the northern bank of the Pioneer River since 2003, our Hospital is a modern 105-bed facility featuring five operating theatres, a fully equipped day surgery unit, and a wide range of specialist clinical services.
Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
Our Registered Nurses provide evidence-based, patient-centred care in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. In the surgical ward, this includes pre- and post-operative care, wound management, pain control, medication administration, early mobilisation, and discharge planning.
They advocate for patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, contributing to optimal outcomes. Registered Nurses are also responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of care within their scope of practice and in line with relevant legislation, standards, codes, and clinical competencies.

To be successful in this position, you will have the following:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no practice restrictions
- You have recent clinical experience in a surgical ward or acute care setting
- Digital and computer proficiency
- Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care and outcomes
- Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
- Demonstrates a collaborative and engaging approach to teamwork and the ability to work within the multi-disciplinary team
