Autism & Complex Behaviors

We’re looking for a kind, confident, and experienced Male support worker to join our team. This role will support an individual with complex needs including non-verbal communication, incontinence, and high personal care needs. Family are located in Cranbourne North and prefer a Polynesian Support Worker who understands Te Reo Maori or Tongan language, but must have excellent English & communication skills.

About the Role

You’ll be working with male aged 23 who lives with his family. He has level 3 autism, and can have behaviors of concern. Shifts are 8am - 2pm 4 days per week including weekends. We aim for consistent days to help provide routine and stability.

To be successful you will need:

Must be a Polynesian male

A calm, caring, and patient attitude

Have experience in community access support

Can cook and clean

Have excellent reporting skills, well organized and planning skills

At least 3 years' experience supporting people with level 3 autism

Confidence with high behavioral needs and personal care incl. showering, changing & toileting etc.

Ability to read body language and non-verbal cues and connect with the individual

Skilled at managing a strong minded person that may present with behaviors

Good understanding of trauma-informed care

Reliable and consistent with your energy and presence

Looking for long term set shifts

Extra brownie points if you:

Are familiar with Tikanga Māori and culturally sensitive

Have lived experience in disability or caring roles

Have a holistic approach to care and support

Are skilled in health and fitness
