Community Services #1 is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people and families in the ACT and surrounding NSW regions. With over 200 employees and volunteers, we deliver programs that address community needs and foster a sense of belonging.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to fill a position at our Acacia Early Learning and Care Center located in Barton, catering to children 6 weeks to 6 years old.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a kitchen food budget and cooking delicious, nutritious meals for children, including those with special dietary requirements.
About the role:
Cook
Implement the menu on a weekly basis; with four-week rotations, taking into consideration Community Services#1’s Food and Nutrition policy.
Organise orders for buying bulk food, as well as weekly and daily shopping for fresh food. Be responsible for maintaining and ordering kitchen supplies.
Check the accuracy and freshness of food deliveries made to the centre and ensure all foods are stored correctly (as per Food Safety Plan).
Consult with families and guardians regarding their children’s special diets, foods and allergies.
About you:
To be considered for this role, you'll hold, or be working towards, a Certificate 3 Commercial Cookery (or ACECQA approved equivalent). If you are part-way through completing your studies, CS#1 is happy to consider you.
You must be able to communicate positively and effectively with children and their families, delivering stimulating educational programs based on the needs and interests of the children in your care.
Most importantly, you will be a caring, positive, and nurturing individual passionate about the growth and development of young children.
This role will see you building strong relationships with our educators, the children in our care and their families. This will ensure that we continue providing quality services and that our children are set up for a bright and successful future.

Hold unrestricted Working with Vulnerable People Card
National Police Check
Drivers Licence
What we offer:
Hourly rate: $29.53 per hour plus superannuation, Monday to Friday -7:30am-1:30pm (55 hrs fortnight).
