Looking for a job that feels good and does good? Read on!
At Burnie Brae, we’re not your average not-for-profit. For over 40 years, we’ve been proudly supporting the Brisbane North and Moreton Bay communities - and we’re growing our awesome team of Home and Community Assistants!
If you’re kind, reliable, and love a good chat over a cuppa, you might be exactly who we’re looking for. We’re offering permanent part-time roles, with shifts Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm - that means no evenings, no overnights, and your weekends are all yours. You’ll be guaranteed a minimum of 15 hours a week, with room to grow. Our main hub is in Chermside, and you’ll be helping clients in the surrounding areas.
What You’ll Be Doing (a.k.a. making someone’s day)
You’ll be out and about, supporting older adults to stay independent, feel safe, and enjoy their daily lives - whether it’s in their homes or in the community. You'll become a familiar face and a trusted helping hand.
You’ll help with:
- Light household tasks and meal prep (bonus points if you make a mean sandwich)
- Friendly companionship and good conversation
- Encouraging independence and helping clients reach their goals
- Noticing and reporting any changes in wellbeing
- Following care plans and keeping simple records
What You’ll Need to Bring Along
- A big heart and a genuine love for helping others
- A National Police Check (or be willing to get one)
- A Statutory Declaration
- First Aid & CPR certificates
- A valid driver’s licence
- Access to a reliable, insured car (we’ll reimburse your travel under the SCHADS award)
Experience in aged care is great - but not a deal-breaker. If you’re new to the field, we’ll train and support you every step of the way.
We’ve Got Your Back
We know great care starts with great staff. That’s why we make sure you feel confident and supported:
- Paid induction training
- Buddy shifts with experienced team members
- Ongoing coaching, supervision, and development opportunities
Perks & Benefits (because you deserve them!)
- Salary packaging to boost your take-home pay ($15,990 + up to $2,650 for meals & entertainment)
- Flexible work arrangements
- Annual leave loading (yes, more money when you're on holiday)
- Discounts on private health insurance
- Free counselling and wellbeing support via our EAP
- Staff discounts across Burnie Brae services
- Recognition and rewards (we see and celebrate your hard work)
More Than a Job - It’s a Community
At Burnie Brae, we’re all about people - our clients and our team. We believe in connection, compassion, and creating a workplace where you’ll feel valued and inspired every day.
From home care to health services, social programs to day trips - we do it all, with heart. If you're someone who lights up helping others and wants to make a real difference (without sacrificing work-life balance), we’d love to hear from you.
