About the role

We have an exciting opportunity available for a dedicated, caring and highly motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join the Medical Surgical Unit Leadership Team at Bacchus Marsh Hospital.

The Medical Surgical Unit at Bacchus Marsh provides care to a variety of patients with General Medical Conditions, General elective surgical conditions, patients requiring Detoxification support and Palliative Care.

Patients may be admitted through the UCC, referred in from Community or General Practitioner (GP), Via elective surgery process, or transfer from other WH sites.

You must be available for a 7 day a week rotating roster (AM PM & ND)

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality patient care. The ANUM will support and assist the Nurse Unit Manager, as well as providing mentoring and leadership to the Nursing Team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Model positive and proactive attitudes and behaviours that support the Western Health Best Care Framework
  • Collaborate on achieving the goals for Best Care with other employees and patients/consumers
  • Be proactive about identifying and addressing issues that interfere with patients receiving Best Care
  • Understand their broad responsibility for safety and quality in health care

Clinical responsibilities:

  • Maintain management skills
  • Acts as a clinical role model by providing the highest standard of direct patient care
  • Supervises, directs, and supports nursing staff in clinical practice
  • Has experience and is able to take on a floor co-ordination role
  • Supporting NUM

About you:

  • Demonstrated evidence of undertaking professional development activities to maintain and enhance nursing expertise/management
  • Can communicate effectively with all team members
  • Relevant medical surgical and palliative care experience desirable
  • Has experience and is able to take on a floor co-ordination role
