QUT PhD scholarship: Diabetes foot disease (The QFeet Study)
Queensland University of Technology
Posted 22 days ago
Diabetes is the most rapidly growing cause of the nation’s health burden, with diabetes foot disease (DFD) contributing to >50% of this diabetes health burden. Evidence-based footcare can halve the burden caused by DFD, yet <50% of people living with DFD in cities get this care. This drops to <20% for those living in remote areas.
About the project and scholarship
This PhD project will be part of or augment a larger NHMRC Partnership Grant project (The QFeet Study) that aims to implement, evaluate and scale-up novel Diabetes Footcare Hub models of care for people with diabetes foot disease living in regional and remote areas of Queensland.
The model of care has three core components: a Navigator, an Interdisciplinary Footcare Team and a Community Digital Platform to facilitate care between expert Interdisciplinary Footcare Teams in major metropolitan hospitals and people with DFD in a regional and remote Queensland using digital tools.
The candidate will be supervised by Associate Professor Peter Lazzarini and have the opportunity to be part of one of Australia’s leading health services research environments with other PhD students, research staff and members of the dynamic Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI) at the School of Public Health and Social Work in the Faculty of Health at QUT.
