Position Title: Internal Communications & Engagement Coordinator
Type: Part-Time (2–3 days/week, flexible)
Reports To: CEO
Location: Canberra ACT
Salary: $65,000-$90,000 package per annum (for 3 days/week)
We’re looking for a people-first communicator to join our team as our Internal Communications & Engagement Coordinator.
In this flexible part-time role, you’ll act as the connector between the CEO, Board, staff, and volunteers—ensuring communication is clear, culture is strong, and everyone stays informed and engaged. You’ll be responsible for creating internal communications, coordinating stakeholder updates, and supporting a positive team environment. The role also includes secretariat duties, such as preparing Board agendas, distributing papers, taking minutes, and helping maintain smooth governance operations.

Key Responsibilities
Internal Communications & Culture
Develop and maintain internal communication rhythms (newsletters, announcements, updates)
Draft or refine CEO and Board updates to the team and volunteers
Support a strong, inclusive culture through timely and meaningful internal messaging
Celebrate staff and volunteer milestones and achievements
Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure volunteers and staff feel informed, included and aligned with organisational goals
Help translate strategic priorities into clear, human communication for internal audiences
Build cross-functional relationships to ensure communication flows across all levels
Secretariat & Governance Support
Coordinate Board and committee meetings (agendas, scheduling, minutes)
Prepare and distribute professional Board papers in collaboration with the CEO
Maintain registers, governance documents and follow-up action tracking
Ensure governance timelines and reporting obligations are met

Outstanding written and verbal communication
High emotional intelligence and interpersonal awareness
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work discreetly and maintain confidentiality
Comfortable liaising with senior stakeholders and volunteers alike
Governance awareness and confidence managing documentation
