The Team:

  • The role is set at the Royal Hobart Hospital - Wellington Outpatient Clinics and operates as a daytime only service from Monday to Friday.
  • As a member of the Outpatients team, you will specialise in providing care to people living with complex medical conditions.
  • We are a friendly, supportive and welcoming team offering a fast-paced environment structured around the outpatient setting.
  • The team, work closely with physicians, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to enhance and streamline patient care pathways through effective multidisciplinary teamwork.

The Role:

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) works collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior team members to ensure the delivery of timely, efficient, and evidence-based care in the outpatient setting.

Operating within a multidisciplinary framework, the ANUM supports the coordination of clinic activities and patient appointments, waitlists and coordination of care to optimise patient flow and service delivery.

In addition, the ANUM assists the NUM in the planning and management of staffing and resources, while providing operational leadership to support the smooth running of daily outpatient services.

Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, helping to refine patient flow, clinical protocols, and resource management.

Develop advanced clinical knowledge and practical experience in outpatient medical services and specialties, broadening your expertise in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, working alongside clinicians, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to optimise patient care pathways.

The team, part of the Medical and Cancer Services, supports ongoing education and professional development, providing pathways to upskill staff across various clinical modalities.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within a contemporary healthcare framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 25 August 2025.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
