About the Role:
As a Coordinator Community Projects, you will lead the design and delivery of vocational and non-vocational ‘Work for the Dole’ activities and oversee the Containers for Change (CDS) program. You’ll play a pivotal role in developing and managing community-based projects while leading a culturally diverse team and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Lead the design, planning, and delivery of community projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organisational and community priorities.
- Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations at the Containers for Change (CDS) site, ensuring efficient, safe, and professional recycling services.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and support Community Project Officers, Project Hands, and CDS team members, building a positive, culturally safe, and high-performing workplace.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with job seekers, employers, Indigenous organisations, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all activities comply with organisational policies, contractual obligations, Work Health & Safety standards, and reporting requirements.
- Cultural Responsiveness: Work respectfully and responsively with Aboriginal clients, staff, and communities, supporting culturally appropriate practices across all areas of work.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated project management experience with an understanding of the project lifecycle.
- Experience managing and developing culturally diverse teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively across varied groups.
- Sound administrative, reporting, and IT skills (including Office 365).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in labour market programs (CDEP, CDP, Jobactive, DES).
- Understanding of the waste and recycling industry.
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety standards.
- Previous experience working with Indigenous Australians in rural or remote communities.
Licensing Requirements:
- Essential: C Class Driver’s License, National Police Check
- Preferred: Forklift license, First Aid Certificate, White Card, HR License.
