Level 2 SOC Analyst

Job Summary:
Our client is looking for a Level 2 SOC Analyst to work into a defence environment to join their operations team. You will be ensuring effective monitoring, detection and response to cyber threats. Assisting with the mentoring and growth of the SOC team members. Proactively developing solutions that generate Cyber security uplift through new systems and procedures for the SOC team, the Cyber team and the company in general. This position also involves conducting & leading cyber investigations, threat hunting tasks and forensic analysis.

What will you be doing?

• Responding to cyber incidents and supporting investigations.
• Leading threat hunting and digital forensic analysis.
• Providing expert advice and technical oversight across the SOC.
• Helping implement and maintain security tools and solutions.
• Identifying and remediating vulnerabilities to strengthen our security posture.
• Supporting the introduction and rollout of new tools and procedures.
• Monitoring and maintaining SOC operations and tooling.
• Collaborating with the Cyber team and broader IT group to drive security uplift.

Skills and experience required to succeed in this role?

• Previous experience in a Level 2 SOC role.
• Strong cyber security skills and knowledge of modern SOC practices.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards.
• Experience with SIEM tooling
• Experience with vulnerability management tools
• Digital forensics skills and experience with forensic tools.
• Strong Windows and working Linux knowledge.
• Background in IT - help desk, infrastructure, or similar
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications.
• Active NV1 clearance, with ability to upgrade if required.
• Work onsite in Canberra, ACT.
