Western Bulk Haulage is a well-established Bulk Liquid Haulage company based in Townsville.

Due to our continued growth and newly awarded contract Western Bulk Haulage is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team.

About the role

In this full-time role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy vehicles, tankers and trailing equipment, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and in a reliable condition to support our business operations.

You will be required to set up, maintain and manage the workshop to suit your own processes that promote safety and efficiency.

What you'll be doing

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks including inspections, diagnostics and repairs to medium and heavy vehicles, including trucks, tankers, and associated equipment

Conduct comprehensive inspections and identify potential problems to prevent breakdowns

Maintain detailed records of all equipment to promote a proactive preventative maintenance program

Collaborate with the operations team to minimise vehicle downtime and ensure an efficient fleet management process

Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment

Be responsible for the maintenance and servicing documentation to maintain compliance within our NHVR and WHVAS accreditations.

What we're looking for

Formal qualifications as a heavy vehicle Diesel Mechanic, advantageous but not essential.

Must have proven experience maintaining heavy vehicles or off highway equipment

Have sound knowledge of electrical and air systems associated with road tankers and trailing equipment.

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills to quickly identify and resolve issues

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records

Ability to work independently and have efficient time management skills

Have a current Australian Class C Drivers Licence minimum. (HC preferably)

Sound knowledge of relevant on road compliance regulations

Vigilant focus on workplace health and safety

Ability to service unexpected breakdowns if required
