The Role:

You’ll be responsible for designing and building user interfaces for a wide range of digital projects. You'll work with clients like HunterWater, Wests, parkrun, The PHN, The Urban List on content sites, mobile apps and custom integrations.

Working within established client brand guidelines, you’ll create clean, accessible, responsive designs in Figma (or similar). You’ll then implement those designs using modern, standards-compliant web technologies including semantic HTML, modern CSS, and JavaScript.

You’ll take designs from concept to implementation, handling everything from content structure and layout to building responsive, accessible, and maintainable front-end components.

You won’t be expected to run in-depth UX research, but you should be able to design with empathy for users and an eye for clarity and simplicity.

About you:

You’re a creative thinker who enjoys shaping elegant, intuitive interfaces and making them real with code.

You have a solid understanding of user-centred design and user experience principles, and you know how to apply them to create interfaces that are both usable and delightful.

You’ve got a strong foundation in layout, typography, accessibility, and responsive design. You're just as comfortable in a code editor as you are in a design tool.

You’re a good communicator, happy to work closely with both developers and clients, and confident in explaining design decisions. You enjoy refining ideas through collaboration and care about getting the details right.

You’ve got work to show—whether it’s a live site, a component library, or a GitHub repo—and you can talk through your approach to solving design problems.

Ideal skills:

Strong HTML and CSS skills, with a focus on semantic structure and accessibility

Solid understanding of responsive design and cross-browser behaviour

Working knowledge of native JavaScript (no frameworks)

Experience designing UI in Figma or similar tools

Comfortable using Git (GitHub or GitLab)

Experience working within brand guidelines

Bonus: familiarity with Craft CMS or similar content-managed platforms

Location: Ideally hybrid, but we will also consider fully remote for the right candidate.
