Houghton and Meredith Pty Ltd, a long-established civil engineering contractor based in Riverstone, is seeking a qualified Plant Mechanic to join our team. We operate a diverse fleet of modern earthmoving machinery and trucks, and require a skilled mechanic to maintain, service, and repair this equipment.

Our fleet includes:

Excavators (up to 36T)

Articulated dump trucks

Skid steers & posi-tracks

Backhoes

Graders

Rollers

Prime movers and heavy rigid trucks

Trailers and light support vehicles

We offer a large, well-equipped workshop in Riverstone and a fully stocked service truck for site work. As an ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 accredited company, we pride ourselves on safe, efficient, and quality-driven operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs across our fleet

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults efficiently

Carry out site breakdowns using our service truck

Prioritise maintenance schedules and respond to urgent repairs

Maintain accurate service records and job cards

Work closely with our Plant Manager and assist in mentoring a 2nd-year apprentice

Uphold safety standards and follow company procedures

Essential Criteria:

Trade qualified Plant Mechanic (Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent)

Minimum 5 years’ post-trade experience, preferably across both civil plant and heavy vehicles

Proven ability to mentor junior staff or apprentices

Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills

Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Good communication and time management skills

Current driver's licence (HR licence highly regarded)
