We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Switching Operator to join our Project Team exclusively delivering Underground Power Projects on behalf of Western Power. The successful candidate will be responsible for all planning, execution and closeout of switching and commissioning activities required for the assigned Underground Power Project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning installation / switching schedule based on network condition and load.
• Write switching programs to carry out switching operations.
• Perform switching, isolation, and restoration of underground power circuits in accordance with Western Power's operational standards and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with Network Controllers, field crews, and contractors to execute switching programs efficiently.
• Conduct pre-switching safety checks, issue access permits, and carry out hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules and network standards during all switching activities.
• Coordinating with field teams during outages to ensure safe execution of works.
• Respond to operational requirements such as fault isolation and network restoration.
• Update and maintain accurate switching and operational records and field documentation.
• Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations as required.
• Assist in the commissioning and testing of new underground installations and upgrades.

Key Requirements:

• Fully cleared and active Western Power HV / LV switching ticket.
• Proven experience in switching operations on distribution networks, preferably within the underground power sector requiring back feeding and temporary network configurations.
• Strong understanding of Western Power’s switching guidelines and electrical safety procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with Network Controllers and field crews.
• A commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
• Current Australian driver’s license.
