About the role:
We are seeking a proactive Emergency Relief Coordinator to join our team! You will be responsible for assessing community member needs and determining appropriate financial assistance (emergency relief) and/or referrals, as required. This is a unique opportunity to give hands on, practical help to those who are most vulnerable within our community - making an impactful difference in the lives of infividuals and families every day!
Reporting directly to the Office Manager, you will oversee and manage the Emergency Relief program while also connecting and referring clients with our other main services - Community Breakfast, Sunshine Van, Low Cost food center & Counselling services.
This is a permanent part-time (30 hrs per week) position based in Hervey Bay, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SACS QLD Level 2.3 Award.
Key Responsibilites:
Conduct interviews and make assessments for Emergency Relief with community members and in accordance with We Care 2 guidelines
Conduct interviews with the ability to listen actively and ask pertinent questions
Determine the assistance to be provided in line with We Care 2 standards of practice
Community members are assisted to access support services through referral and advocacy to external service providers where appropriate
Compiling case reports and relevant information, ensuring that they are kept up to date and following the archiving system.
Encourage clients to contact and/or participate in programs aimed at helping them move forward such as financial counselling, budgeting courses etc
Engage positively with clients and help them with any information they may require referring participants to our other services or other agencies/ organisations that may be able to assist them
Research and identify referral pathways for resourcing clients
Network and attend networking events with other support services, building and strengthen key relationships
Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Emergency Relief program including purchasing supplies, keeping track of additional donations and work within the allocated budget
Reporting to relevant management staff and including main Government funding bodies within required time frames
Collaborate with all Management & Team leaders with the intention of building, growing & expanding the service
About you:
We’re looking for a collaborative and experienced who is ready to make a lasting impact. You’ll bring:
Certificate III (minimum) qualification in a related field (Community Services etc)
OR related qualification or experience in an adjacent field
Experience working in the community services sector
Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds would be beneficial
A national Criminal History check is required
A current and valid Working with Children's Check
Current drivers licence a must (To expand to remote service locations)
