Our Recreation Team is a vibrant, close-knit community of people who thrive on connection, movement, and making a difference. From Duty Managers and Customer Service Officers to Instructors and Coordinators, our team transforms 18 Recreation Centres into welcoming, inclusive, and safe spaces—offering health, fitness, and recreation opportunities to those who need them most.
As part of the Y family, you'll help support the wellbeing of vulnerable and underrepresented communities, always acting with integrity and respect. In return, we offer flexible hours, free facility membership, and the chance to build valuable leadership and life skills—all while making a real impact.
As a Lifeguard with The Y, you understand that safety and fun go hand-in-hand. Our pools and recreation facilities are invaluable, inclusive, exciting spaces for sporty types - especially young people. But, they can't exist if they aren't safe. Which is exactly where you come in. You'll join a team of responsible, approachable, confident swimmers in supervising our pools and surrounding areas. Together, you'll uphold the highest standards of care and safety to make sure our swimmers have fun, stay active and gain confidence in the water.
If you're a people person with a keen eye for detail and who thrives under pressure, you could be our next Lifeguard. If so, expect perks like flexible hours and free facility membership, and the support to build valuable people, leadership and life skills - all while you make a difference to your community.
