St John of God Bendigo Hospital is a 122-bed contemporary private hospital located in central Victoria providing high quality acute medical and surgical health care services for people in Bendigo and surrounding areas
Your Position at St John of God Bendigo Hospital
You will be responsible and effective team member, assisting in the overall clinical management of the ward and responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff in accordance with the Nurses and Midwifery Board of Australia Scope of Practice and deputises for and assists the Nursing Unit Manager.
Join our dynamic 12-bed Critical Care Unit that offers a blend of Intensive Care, High Dependency and Cardiac Care services. Our team is committed to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated nurses to join our team on a fixed term, part time contract from August 2025 to Feb 2026.
The Position
- In the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager, the ANUM assumes responsibilities for the utilisation of personnel and management of unit in collaboration with After Hours Manager.
- Assists and facilitates the effective communication of the Unit.
- Assists the Nursing Unit Manager in collection of audits, statistics, staff performance management and productivity analysis data.
- Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or After Hours Manager according to changes in levels.
- Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actionss.
You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife and demonstrate ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams. Post-graduate Critical Care is desirable.
To succeed you will have knowledge and skills of the principles of infection management and commitment to on-going education and self-directed learning.

- Salary $107,721 to $111,330 (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
- Fixed term, part time position available, working up to 60.8 hours per fortnight from Aug 2025 to Feb 2026.
