(NORTH EASTERN AREA COMMAND)

The North Eastern Area Command has Mitigation Crews located in Armidale, Casino, Coffs Harbour, Glen Innes, Murwillumbah, Ulmarra and Urunga. Mitigation Crew Member and Crew Leader recruitment (talent) pools will be created to fill future opportunities within the crews over the next 18 months.
This opportunity offers:
- RFS Level 1 Mitigation Crew Member: $67,704 - $72,741 p.a. plus 12% superannuation
- RFS Level 2/3 Mitigation Crew Leader: $76,749 - $83,435 p.a. plus 12% superannuation
- Full-time ongoing employment & 35-hour working week
- Attractive annual salary:
- Mandatory paid induction program upon commencement (may be required to travel and stay at the training facility during specific periods)
- Current Available Locations - Crew Member: Glen Innes and Armidale
- Current Available locations - Crew Leader: Urunga and Armidale

What you’ll be doing:
We are looking for motivated and community-minded individuals who have a passion for emergency services and enjoy working in an outdoor-based physical role. By joining our Mitigation Crews, you will have the opportunity to reduce the risk of fires occurring within your community. You will have the opportunity to assist with the AIDER Program, hazard reduction activities, and support operations during emergency response.

Glen Innes Fire Control Centre: 100 Lambeth Street, Glen Innes
- Tuesday 22 July 2025 at 4:30PM
Armidale Fire Control Centre: 41 Shand Drive, Armidale
- Wednesday 23 July 2025 at 4:30PM
North Eastern Area Command Office: Unit 3, 2 Halls Road, North Boambee Valley
- Thursday 24 July 2025 at 4:30PM
What you'll need to join our crews:
Mitigation Crew Member:
- RFS Bush Firefighter (BF) qualification or its equivalent
- A current Driver Licence (Provisional P1 or above)
- A level of physical fitness appropriate for arduous bush firefighting or similar intense and sustained physical activity
- First Aid Qualification, or willingness to obtain *
Mitigation Crew Leader:
- RFS Crew Leader (CLW and/or CLS) Certification or its equivalent
- A current Class Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence
- A level of physical fitness appropriate for arduous bush firefighting or similar intense and sustained physical activity
- First Aid Qualification, or willingness to obtain *
