Your day as a First Nations Cultural Learning and Employment Officer

In this role, you will be working to build First Nations cultural awareness and safety across the department and support the growth and development of First Nations staff. Your typical day-to-day work will include developing and delivering a range of organisation specific cultural learning and employment programs to build First Nations cultural awareness, support First Nations employment and career development and build people and leader capability, aligned to project outcomes, business unit objectives and organisation wide strategies.

Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is paramount, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts.

What you can bring to the role

In addition to your cultural knowledge and lived experience, there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

· Develop, design and deliver highly engaging, inclusive and accessible cultural learning and development programs utilising adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies in order to achieve business objectives and support organisational cultural change.

· Contribute to the development and implementation of cultural learning and development strategy, policies, plans and activities to ensure that learning and development activities are aligned to organisational strategies and priorities.

· Collaborate, negotiate and develop relationships with key, stakeholders, subject matter experts and project teams to understand people impacts, provide advice and recommendations and implement targeted projects and activities to deliver on business outcomes.

· Apply and utilise multiple learning mediums including digital, face to face, on the job learning activities and coaching to enhance the delivery of cultural learning and development experience and support practical application.

· Monitor, review, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of cultural learning and employment programs, training outcomes and feedback and prepare correspondence and briefings on insights, emerging issues, risks and opportunities to support the shaping of cultural learning and course design and continuously improve learning and development offerings.

· Collaborate, negotiate and develop relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand and identify training needs and requirements, capability and skill gaps, and appropriate learning strategies, and

· Work in collaboration with key stakeholder to support culturally safe and inclusive recruitment, retention and development practices for First Nations staff.

· Can work collaboratively and productively within a diverse team to drive change, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
