About Us

Wotbox is a fast-growing division of the AOF Group, specialising in the design and conversion of shipping containers into bespoke cafes, bars, offices, kiosks, tiny homes, and event spaces for example. Every build we do is custom, high-impact, and built to last. To continue in this fast-growing sector we are seeking a visionary, skilled and reliable Fabricator to join our workshop team and bring our custom container projects to life.

About the Role

As a Fabricator at Wotbox, you’ll be responsible for the hands-on welding, fabrication, and modification of shipping containers for a wide range of commercial and residential uses. This role involves everything from initial structural work to final fit-outs and onsite installs, requiring a keen eye for detail, strong safety standards, and a passion for craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

1. Job Communication & Planning

Liaise daily with the Foreman to confirm job allocations, schedule, and build priorities.

Attend team toolbox meetings and contribute to weekly planning sessions.

Interpret technical drawings, build specifications, and client requirements accurately.

Provide suggestions to improve efficiency, build time, and material use where applicable.

2. Fabrication & Welding

Cut, weld, and assemble steel components for structural modifications to containers.

Fabricate framework, wall studs, windows, doors, and reinforcement structures.

Perform MIG welding (and other methods where required) to high visual and structural standards.

Conduct grinding, cutting, drilling, and prep work as part of the fabrication process.

3. Fit-Out & Installation Work

Assist in internal fit-outs including subfloor installation, framing, insulation, and lining.

Fit kitchens, benches, cabinetry, and commercial-grade equipment as required per build.

Assist in onsite installations and container placements when needed.

4. Tools, Materials & Equipment Maintenance

Maintain and clean fabrication tools, welders, grinders, and related equipment.

Notify Foreman of required consumables or materials well ahead of time to avoid delays.

Ensure safe handling, storage, and usage of all tools and materials.

5. Workshop & Onsite Safety

Follow all company WHS procedures including correct PPE usage and safe work practices.

Identify and report any safety hazards or faulty equipment.

Keep personal and shared work areas clean, organised, and hazard-free at all times.

6. Continuous Improvement & Teamwork

Suggest improvements to fabrication methods, designs, and production workflow.

Assist team members as required and contribute to a positive team environment.

Take initiative to solve problems and work proactively to keep jobs on track.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in welding and steel fabrication (trade qualification preferred but not essential).

Have the aptitude to be an out of the box thinker to identify improvements in methods or solutions.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and work to project specs.

Strong awareness of safety in both workshop and site environments.

High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable (but not essential)

Suitable or working toward suitable qualifications in fabrication and welding.

Forklift licence

White card / construction induction card

Experience with container or modular builds

Experience working with timber and sheet metal for fit-out work
