Are you a calm, curious, and caring person with a passion for supporting neurodivergent children to thrive? A wonderful family based on the Gold Coast is seeking a 1:1 Specialist Support Worker / In-Home Educator to support their bright, creative, and autistic 10-year-old and his three sisters. This unique role includes occasional international travel, offering the chance to work in a variety of enriching environments.
This position would suit someone studying Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Developmental Education, or Early Childhood Education, or someone with an early childhood background, and who has demonstrated experienc working with autistic children. It would also suit a qualified professional who is looking for a relationship-based, child-centred role.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent, responsive 1:1 support at home, in the community, and during travel
Implement learning and play activities adapted to the child’s interests and support needs
Use visuals, routines, and neuro-affirming tools to support communication and regulation
Support emotional safety and predictability in transitions and new environments
Promote independence in a way that respects the child’s autonomy and pace
This Role Would Suit Someone Who:
Has experience (formal or informal) supporting autistic or neurodivergent children
Is studying or has qualifications in OT, SP, DE, early childhood or disability support
Understands or is learning about neurodiversity-affirming approaches
Brings patience, humour, flexibility, and a strengths-based mindset
Enjoys travel and is adaptable to changing routines
Is confident working independently and as part of a collaborative team
Requirements:
Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
Valid passport & availability for occasional international travel
Driver’s licence preferred
Relevant study, experience or qualifications
