What you will be Doing

As an Emulsion Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the bitumen emulsion plant to ensure safe, efficient, and quality production in line with Downer’s high operational standards. Your experience in a laboratory setting will be essential for quality control testing and ensuring all emulsions meet required specifications.

Some Key Responsibilities will include;

Operate and monitor the emulsion plant and associated equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot plant machinery as needed.

Prepare and handle chemicals safely, including emulsifiers and additives.

Conduct laboratory testing on emulsions (viscosity, stability, residue content, pH, etc.).

Record and report production and test results accurately.

Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with HSE policies.

Assist with inventory management of raw materials and finished products.

Liaise with internal teams to ensure timely production and dispatch.

Ensure compliance with relevant quality, environmental, and safety standards.

What you will need

Proven experience operating a bitumen emulsion plant or similar industrial plant.

Laboratory testing experience in the bitumen, asphalt, or construction materials industry.

Strong understanding of emulsion chemistry and plant safety procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and quality standards.

High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Current driver’s licence (HR licence advantageous)

Forklift licence and White Card

Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (MSL40122) or willing to obtain
