The Position

Asphaltech is excited to announce an opportunity for a full-time permanent Float Operator. The position involves transporting road maintenance machinery throughout the Melbourne Metro area. This position is perfect for individuals with industry experience looking for a career in truck driving.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have a genuine interest in the trucking industry. Experience operating a float will be highly regarded but training will be provided to candidates with a HC licence and industry experience in regard to operating all required plant and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Float Operator, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Transportation: Learn how to transport heavy machinery safely to various locations throughout the Melbourne Metro area.

Licence: Use a Heavy Combination (HC) licence to enable the transportation of the machinery.

Loading and Unloading: Hold the skills in safely loading, unloading, and driving heavy machinery.

Securing Machinery: Using the correct techniques for securing machinery for transport to ensure safety.

Compliance Knowledge: Understand and adhere to all compliance required for position.

Paperwork: Complete the necessary documentation accurately and promptly.

Housekeeping Standards: Maintain high housekeeping standards in all work areas.

Preferred Experience & Skills

To be successful in this position you should have:

A Construction Induction Card (white card). (Can be obtained if required)

A HC driver’s licence with 12 months driving experience as a minimum.

Willingness to complete a driver medical assessment.

An understanding of civil and asphalt machinery (highly regarded).

Strong mechanical aptitude (highly regarded).

A genuine interest in pursuing a career as a Float Operator.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to work effectively both as a team player and independently.
