This role calls for a responsive and highly motivated individual with advanced clinical skills within mental health and has considerable demonstrated senior clinical experience including the provision of clinical supervision.
To be successful, you will possess exceptional leadership skills, advanced clinical competency and be highly motivated to engage and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
Candidates must apply well-developed clinical knowledge and skills to contribute to the strategic direction of the service and to provide authoritative counsel to stakeholders.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Mental Health Team Leader is responsible for:
- Providing clinical leadership, consultation and expertise in the planning and provision of clinical services by the multidisciplinary mental health team
- Coordinating the process of referral, crisis management, assessment, reviews and transition planning within a case management framework
- Demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning skills in the provision of clinical care, and maintain a client caseload commensurate with responsibilities of the role
- Operating independently with minimum direct clinical supervision, to provide high quality clinical services, including the ability to exercise professional judgement in solving problems and managing complex situations.
- Supporting clinical governance activities
For Occupational therapists
The Mental Health Team Leader (Occupational Therapist) also has discipline lead
responsibilities for the occupational therapy workforce in the service.
Mandatory requirements
- The possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as an Occupational
Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Highly regarded
- Mental Health accreditation, relevant postgraduate qualifications, experience delivering mental health services in various settings and familiarity with the criminal justice system
For Social Workers
The Mental Health Team Leader ( Social Worker) also has discipline lead responsibilities for the social work workforce in the service.
Mandatory requirements
- The possession of a university level degree in Social Work accredited by Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Eligibility for membership with AASW and the candidate does not have any other outstanding professional competency or ethical issues, or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership to the association
Highly regarded
- AASW Mental Health accreditation, relevant postgraduate qualifications, experience delivering mental health services in various settings and
familiarity with the criminal justice system
For Psychologists
The Mental Health Team Leader (Psychologist) also has discipline lead responsibilities for the psychology workforce in the service.
Mandatory requirements
- Possession of Bachelor's degree (4 year) in psychology or behavioural science.
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree (5 year) in psychology or behavioural science.
- General registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is mandatory
Highly regarded
- Board Accreditation to provide supervision, relevant postgraduate qualifications, experience delivering mental health services in various settings and
familiarity with the criminal justice system
