With a growing focus on mental health, they are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health GP to support their patients' emotional well-being in conjunction with their physical care needs.

The Mental Health GP plays a vital role in identifying, assessing, and managing common mental health conditions in a primary care setting. This role is ideal for a general practitioner with a special interest or additional training in mental health who wants to work in an integrated care environment alongside psychologists, psychiatrists, and other allied health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress-related disorders, and substance misuse.
• • Initiate and manage pharmacological treatment where appropriate, with close monitoring and follow-up.
• • Work collaboratively with mental health specialists, case managers, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated care.
• • Offer brief psychological interventions, psychoeducation, and referral to specialized services when necessary.
• • Support early intervention and preventive strategies in mental health within the general practice population.
• • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning.
• • Engage in professional development, supervision, and quality improvement activities.
