About The Role

Are you looking for a senior role where you have autonomy, can take charge of your work schedule and own what you do? Then read on.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Import Team Leader to manage a team of International Coordinators. This crucial role involves overseeing the entire import process, from booking and documentation to delivery and client communication. You will work closely with our operations department, external suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure efficient and compliant import operations.

Main Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of International Coordinators, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.

Manage the full cycle of FCL and LCL import shipments, from booking and documentation through to delivery and invoicing.

Proactively liaise with Australian Quarantine and Customs officials to ensure smooth and timely clearance of goods.

Coordinate bookings for FCL, LCL, and air freight with suppliers, freight forwarders, and couriers, negotiating competitive rates and optimizing transit times.

Ensure all shipping documentation complies with Australian standards, expediting processing and ensuring receipt prior to shipment arrival and clearance.

Manage Electronic Delivery Orders (EDOs) and payment processes to facilitate prompt container pick-up.

Collaborate with the transport team to coordinate timely pick-ups and deliveries, proactively addressing any disruptions or delays to minimize storage fees.

Ensure the accuracy of import freight accounts prior to payment authorization.

Build and maintain strong relationships with external suppliers to ensure seamless operations.

Provide exceptional customer service by keeping clients informed of shipment progress and addressing their inquiries promptly and professionally.

Work closely with the Operations department to achieve transit and delivery schedules, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

5+ years of proven experience in a similar import/freight forwarding leadership role.

Strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and quarantine requirements.

Experience handling sea, air, and cartage import/export shipments.

Proficiency with freight management software (Cargowise, ICS, 1-Stop, or similar) is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Exceptional customer service skills and a collaborative team player approach.

Proven leadership and team management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Import/Export qualifications or certifications are preferred
