POSITION DESCRIPTION
Possess an understanding of basic facade and roof weatherproofing principles, including a sound awareness of the requirements of relevant authority requirements and design standards and practices.
Demonstrate working knowledge of typical building materials, systems, and their construction including:
Metals including steel, stainless steel, aluminium and others;
Concrete, and concrete derivatives;
Protective coatings;
Masonry and stonework;
Timber;
Waterproofing (liquid and sheet systems); and
Roofing.
Working knowledge of common remedial strategies, including:
Concrete repair (large and small areas);
Waterproofing repair and renewal;
Steel corrosion treatment;
Timber repair and replacement techniques; and
Re-sealing techniques for glass, metal and masonry substrates.
Experience in the preparation of consulting reports including:
Condition assessment reports;
Site visit reports (construction phase reporting);
Tender documents including technical specifications and pricing schedules;
Detailed CAD drawings for the purpose of developing engineering solutions.
Perform as a capable and reliable team and project member in your technical field.
Demonstrates capability in conducting building assessments using various access methods, including rope access and elevated work platforms.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of the planning and approval phases of projects, including awareness of council requirements and statutory processes such as DA, CC, CDC, and DBPA compliance, across both residential and commercial building types.
THE INDIVIDUAL
The individual fulfilling the role of Remedial Engineer (Civil Engineer) has the following qualifications, skills, and personal qualities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum).
Current Australian driver’s licence.
Minimum 3 years of experience.
Trade qualification in rope access (IRATA Level 1 or equivalent) for at least two years; other trade access training a plus.
Skills
Self motivated and with strong lateral thinking skills, including ability to develop and apply designs and solutions from first principles.
Good knowledge in the planning, execution and safe management of site inspections by rope or other specialist access.
Basic understanding of budgeting and financial management.
Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to successfully communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences through use of written communication, verbal communication, and drawings.
An aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to effectively manage own time to meet project deadlines.
Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
Ability to build positive professional relationships.
TRP: $90,000-$100,000
