We are seeking a skilled and passionate professional with experience in horticulture and maintenance to join our team and play a key role in the beautification, care, and ongoing maintenance of the City's parks, reserves, streetscapes, and the Botanic Gardens.

  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Remuneration package of $2,463.50 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $2,956.20 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).

This position will be responsible to:

  • Undertake horticulture duties including establishment and maintenance of garden and landscape areas; tree maintenance; pest and disease management; develop and implement maintenance schedules; and maintain registers e.g. chemical, spraying etc.
  • Undertake gardening duties including establishment and maintenance of gardens and lawns; planting; pruning; mowing; whipper snipping; weeding; irrigation; soil and sediment control; rehabilitation works; chemical application; pest/disease control; maintenance of facilities; rubbish removal; traffic/pedestrian management; fencing; concreting; paving; and site safety and security.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to the Team.
  • Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C) in accordance with Council standards.
  • Complete documentation relevant to the role e.g. standard forms, site safety documentation etc.

As the successful applicant, you will hold:

  • Qualifications relevant to the role e.g. Certificate III Horticulture.
  • Class C Driver's Licence (MR Licence Desirable).
  • AQF Level 3 Chemical Accreditation.
  • General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
  • SafeWork NSW Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) Training Card (Desirable).

In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation, the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis B and will be asked to provide evidence of this.
