Jabiru Community College (JCC) is based in Zillmere, North Brisbane. We are a small special assistance school that provides alternative education for approximately 90 young people seeking a flexible, caring and holistic approach to learning. We provide an alternative learning environment serving young people who are disengaged from education and whose needs have not been met by mainstream schools or education services. In our learning model, every student works to an individual timetable, pursuing highly individualised learning that interests them

JCC is seeking a registered teacher to join our team to be a part of integrating Big Picture Learning into our school, where we honour and celebrate First Nations students and their communities. Your role is to scaffold and support our students in a small class of 17 students, with the support of a youth worker, holding high expectations for each student as they explore their unique learning journey.

This is an IDENTIFIED position for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teacher

We are looking for applicants who:

Enjoy helping young people to engage in learning and pursue their learning goals

Thrive working collaboratively to develop and enhance our education offerings for all our students, including First Nations students

Are QCT registered teachers or able to gain QCT registration. Graduates are very welcome!

An understanding of the Big Picture Learning model would be well regarded, but not necessary.
