Part-time, hybrid/remote role.

The Disaster Relief and Recovery Team (DRRT) Second-in-Command (2IC) is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and assisting the DRRT Manager in running a Disaster Relief and Recovery Team.

Key accountabilities

Under the direction of the DRRT Manager, assist to administrate and facilitate operational employment lifecycle processes, including:

  • Relationships with the local and state governments with regards to Disaster Management.
  • Assist in enhancing DRRT management capability and capacity.
  • Motivate the Disaster Relief Team.
  • Support the development and promotion of fundraising activities for the DRRT.
  • Engagement activities and build relationships with relevant community groups and not for profits across the DRT area of operations.
  • Engage with/participate in brand awareness.
  • Follow and use the Ops Responsibility Matrix to achieve successful deployment outcomes for Disaster Relief Australia.
  • Under guidance from the Training Manager, facilitate training courses, such as core operations, chainsaw, leadership courses including Incident Management Team, Strike Team Leader and Public Relations Officer.
  • Establish credibility with volunteer leaders, while building a close-knit, high-functioning team.
  • Support implementation of organisational priorities.
  • Conduct welcome sessions for new members each quarter (four induction sessions each financial year).
  • Achieve DRT training, development, and recruitment requirements as outlined in the Disaster Relief Team Development Model.
  • Assist in recruiting for the expansion of DRA membership.

Location: South Queensland - hybrid/remote

Working hours: 10-15 hours a week

Salary: up to $25,000 p.a.
