6 Month Maternity Leave Cover
Required Start Date 28th July 2025.
Ravenshoe Community Centre Inc. Limited Hours Childcare Program is offering a Fixed-Term - Part-time position for 3 days per week @ 19.5hrs week. Mon-Wed 8.30am-3pm.
Qualifications Required: -
Diploma in Children’s Services (or currently study).
Blue Card for suitability to work with children.
Current Senior Asthma and Anaphylaxis First Aid certificate.
Previous experience in caring for children would be an advantage.
Remuneration paid in accordance with Children Services Award 2010, will be determined based on applicant qualifications and relevant Industry experience. PayScale 3.1-3.4
JOB SUMMARY
Ravenshoe Community Centre Inc. receives funding to operate a Limited Hours Child Care Service in Ravenshoe. This funding is provided to employ a Director and 2 Assistant Childcare Educators.
Up to 21 children, ranging in age from 0-5years may use the service at a time.
This position is a fixed-term part-time position at 3 days per week Mon-Wed 8.30am-3.00pm for a 6 month contract Maternity Leave cover. Based in Ravenshoe and paid in accordance with the Qld Child Care Industry Award.
REPORTING
The Assistant Childcare Educator reports to the Director of Childcare, who reports to the Management Committee of the Ravenshoe Community Centre Inc.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Purpose of the position:
Under the guidance of the Director, provide and actively participate in the care and safety of children, giving attention to the children’s physical, emotional, cultural, social and intellectual needs.
To work in partnership with parents and families.
Duties:
To assist the Director in:
1. Planning and implementing the curriculum
2. Supervising, interacting and observing the children
3. Maintaining a safe, clean and hygienic physical environment
4. Supporting parents and carers in a confidential, friendly and professional manner
5. Implementing and reviewing policies and procedures and quality improvement plan
6. Applying for additional funding
7. Meeting licensing requirements.
General Duties:
1. Ensure professional development and opportunities (including studying) are maintained
2. Ensure Senior First Aid and CPR are up to date
3. Attend staff meetings as required
4. Give each child individual attention and comfort as required
5. Understand and work according to the centre or service’s policies and procedures
6. Demonstrate knowledge of hygienic handling of food and equipment
7. Assist in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs for individual children or groups
8. Record observations of individual children or groups for program planning purposes for qualified staff
9. Under direction, work with individual children with particular needs
10. Assist in the direction of untrained staff
11. Undertake and implement the requirements of quality assurance
12. Work in accordance with food safety regulations
Daily Routine:
o Arrive and set up outdoors/baby change area/indoors
o Welcome families/put away lunches/settle children
o Supervise, interact and observe children during free play and planned activities
o Participate in group activities
o Assist with child portfolios
o Farewell children
Other duties in conjunction with the other Educator:
o Change nappies and assist with toileting
o Feed babies
o Prepare morning and afternoon teas
o Arrange lunches
o Set up rest area and settle children to rest
o Participate in story time
o Participate in music
o Pack bags
o Tidy childcare area – clean tables/floor/toilet/kitchen/chairs/toys
o Do washing
