About the Role

We’re looking for a mechanically-minded Yardman to get their hands fixing in our workshop – keeping it tidy, fully stocked, and ready to support our busy crews in the field.

No experience but willing to learn? This role is perfect for a young and enthusiastic person who wishes to learn new skills with potential to grow within the company. You must be someone who loves fixing things, or a practical thinker who takes pride in doing the job right.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop and Yard optimization

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop.

Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly and easily accessible.

Implement systems to track tool usage and maintenance schedules.

Equipment and Tool Maintenance

Service and repair small petrol-powered equipment (2-stroke and 4-stroke engines).

Perform MIG welding to hard-face augers, preparing them for field use.

Utilize oxy-acetylene equipment for cutting and minor repairs.

Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance and repairs.

Fleet and Vehicle Oversight

Conduct regular checks on company vehicles, ensuring cleanliness and operational readiness. Our Fleet are all brand new!

Report any damages or maintenance needs to the Construction Manager promptly.

Coordinate vehicle servicing and maintain service records.

Inventory and Stock Management

Monitor stock levels of tools, equipment, and consumables.

Order parts and supplies cost-effectively, ensuring timely availability.

Organize and label inventory for easy identification and access.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

GREAT ATTITUDE AND HUNGER TO LEARN

Valid manual car driver's license.

Forklift license.

Proven mechanical aptitude with experience in equipment maintenance.

Basic welding skills, particularly MIG welding.

Familiarity with oxy-acetylene cutting equipment.

Ability to use basic computer applications for record-keeping and communication.

Desirable

Experience in a similar yard or workshop role.
Background in automotive or machinery repair.
