Position Details
- Part-Time, Permanent (0.6FTE to 0.8FTE)
- Classification SCHADS Level 3: $73,883-$79,218 per annum (pro rata) + Superannuation
- Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
- Location: Strathpine Medicare Mental Health Centre
About your new role
Strathpine Medicare Mental Health Centre, funded by North Brisbane PHN, is a front door for people aver 18 to access mental health support. The centre assists people experiencing high levels of distress or suicidal crisis, by providing accessible community mental health supports.
Service delivery reflects principals of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery Orientated practices and is guided by extensive co-design processes.
People engaged with the service have access to short to medium term targeted care and support, psychoeducation, and support to access other relevant services. The Strathpine Medicare Mental Health Centre receives referrals from GP's in the area, public mental health services, community organisations as well as self-referrals from members of the community. The Strathpine Medicare Mental Health Centre multidisciplinary team is made up of clinical staff and psycho-social staff providing social and emotional wellbeing supports, psychosocial support, and peer support.

What you will bring to the role
- Personal lived experience of distress, trauma, and/or substance use, with a focus on healing/recovery and the ability to purposefully use lived experience learnings to connect with and support others.
- Strong emotional resilience including the ability tosit with discomfort, distress and people in crisis.
- Ability to work autonomously, adapt communication to diverse need and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to self-reflect, take on feedback to grow practice skills and engage in personal and professional development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills plus computer literacy.
- Personal lived/living experience of recovery as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma
- Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery
- Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instill confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery
Desired
- Intentional Peer Support core training, Cert IV Mental Health Peer Work, Hearing Voices training, group facilitation experience or similar.
- Previous experience in a designated Lived Experience role.
What the role requires
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (police check) - disclosable outcomes considered
- Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work
- Current Australian drivers licence and access to a car
- Australian working rights
