About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health and wellbeing services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The IUIH Mental Health Hubs aim to provide culturally safe mental health services with a strong lived experience voice. The service embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander concepts of social and emotional wellbeing, mental health and healing to provide wholistic and wraparound supports to Mob presenting with moderate to severe mental health needs. Service delivery is led by the lived experience and peer workforce with clinical input and oversight provided as required. The multidisciplinary care team provides psychosocial supports, comprehensive assessment, treatment and assertive outreach support to people aged 15 and above. The Staying Deadly Hub is an extension of the IUIH comprehensive model of care and works closely with stakeholder services to provide responsive care to community members who may otherwise not access support or require inpatient care.

About the Role?

This role is designed for Mental Health Clinicians to work within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on a peer/lived experience led model complemented by clinical input as needed. You will provide holistic and wrap-around care for individuals with moderate to severe mental health needs, ensuring they are supported in the community. Your responsibilities will include conducting culturally appropriate comprehensive assessments, delivering treatment, and engaging in intensive case management.

Day-to-day duties:

  • Provide advice, to support and mentor the peer/lived experience workforce to support people with moderate to severe mental health presentations.
  • Work in ways which are ethically, culturally, and respectfully propa; fostering integrity in our conduct and actions by matching our ways with the values of IUIH and The Ways Statement.
  • Utilise advanced specialist knowledge, experience and clinical skills in comprehensive mental health and suicide risk assessment, clinical formulation and decision making.
  • Manage an appropriate caseload using effective time management and prioritisation skills, including clinical and non-clinical responsibilities (for group and individual work) and the maintenance of accurate records and documentation relating to individuals.
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary team meetings including clinical case conference.
  • Utilise high level communication and interpersonal skills to achieve optimal responsiveness and outcomes through service delivery, including engaging individuals and family in their care delivery.
  • Uphold confidentiality, ensuring individual’s right to privacy with information only being shared where informed consents are provided.

About You?

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum of three years relevant experience working in the mental health or alcohol and other drugs setting
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or related
  • Current AHRPA registration
  • For non-AHPRA clinicians, relevant bachelor’s degree qualification with appropriate membership
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Criminal History Check

Desirable, but not mandatory:

· Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
