Youth Hub Program
The Youth Hub provides young people with a safe environment, access to technology, education, physical activity, a nutritious meal, and an opportunity to foster positive relationships with each other, staff, and mentors.
About the Role
Casual positions available, 4pm-10pm Wednesday-Saturday nights, at Upper Ross and Garbutt
Supervise young people attending the Youth Hubs, ensuring the environment is safe and welcoming and all necessary duties are performed.
Planning and facilitating activities for young people including cooking, sport, art, and other interests.
Supporting young people to access and engage with the team and other services,
Develop a professional relationship with young people and supporting young people in, identifying issues affecting them and assessing how the needs can be met. Identifying and referring when targeted youth support is needed.
Mentoring, role modelling, and coaching to encourage young people to develop their self-awareness, independence, and individuality.
Assisting young people with developing and maintaining community relationships with external stakeholders i.e., schools and developing relationships with youth networks in the local area.
Ensuring that all activities are properly documented, and that case notes are recorded accurately into management systems and feedback is collected regularly.
Actively contribute to maintaining a positive workplace culture in accordance with our values, vision, mission and code of conduct.
Desirable skills and experience
Qualification in Community Services, Youth Work or equivalent, and/or have relevant minimum 12months experience in a similar role.
Demonstrable knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience in a similar role involving group work or working with youth.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with extensive experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and building relationships with young people.
Current Queensland Class C Drivers Licence, Satisfactory National Police Clearance, and current positive Working with Children Blue Card.
