About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. The Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services. CT, MRI and nuclear medicine and oncology suites are on site.

About the role:

The role is to assist the Director, Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeons and other Senior Medical Staff, in a variety of Orthopaedic services such as elective operating, general and specialist trauma operating, elective and fracture clinics, teaching, contribution towards regular audit, M&M and departmental research.

About you:
  • If qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with the appropriate supervision level and provide the following:
  • Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language test results within the last year.
  • Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination.
  • Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Experience and qualifications in Orthopaedics is well regarded.
  • MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.
  • Current AHPRA general registration and a minimum of two years practice within the Australian healthcare system is preferred.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $172,382 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $129,583 - $142,727 p.a. (L4-L7)
  • A salary rate between $129,583 - $150,240 p.a. (L4-L9)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
