Job Title: Senior Associate Property Lawyer
Location: Bondi Junction, NSW
Job Type: Full-Time Position
Salary: $200,000 (plus super) (dependent on experience)
Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Property Lawyer to join Hitch Advisory’s property team. Based in our Bondi Junction office, this role is ideal for a senior solicitor with ideally 7 years (minimum 6 years) post-admission experience in complex commercial and residential property law.
You will act for a diverse client base including national retailers, developers, and operators across a range of industries. The successful candidate will have deep technical knowledge, strong commercial insight, and the ability to manage client relationships and transactions independently from end to end.
This is a leadership-facing role for someone who thrives on responsibility, values a practical and down-to-earth team culture, and is looking to grow within a progressive and client-focused firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Property Transactions: Lead high-value and complex commercial and residential transactions, including contract negotiation, due diligence, structuring, and settlement.
Leasing: Draft and negotiate retail, commercial, and industrial leases, including agreements for lease, renewals, variations, and enforcement actions.
Property Development: Advise on all aspects of development projects, including site acquisition, planning and zoning, titling and subdivisions, and off-the-plan contracts.
Strategic Client Advisory: Provide commercially astute advice tailored to clients in diverse industries, including childcare, retail, hospitality, and property development.
Client Relationship Management: Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, maintaining strong, long-term professional relationships.
Mentorship & Supervision: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers and contribute to the ongoing development of the property team.
Business Development: Contribute to firm growth through networking, thought leadership, and strengthening existing and new referral relationships.
Compliance & Risk: Ensure that all legal work complies with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Key Requirements:
Ideally 7 years (minimum 6 years) post-admission experience in property law, ideally across both commercial and residential contexts
Demonstrated expertise in:
Commercial property sales and acquisitions
Development project advisory
Commercial and retail leasing
NSW practising certificate in good standing
A high level of technical proficiency and drafting ability
Strong commercial acumen and ability to provide practical, client-focused advice
Experience working directly with clients, managing files autonomously, and contributing at a senior level within a team
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience advising clients in the childcare, retail, or development sectors
Experience in strata law (e.g. drafting by-laws)
Experience advising on building contracts
A portable client base or referrer network will be highly regarded
