Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (Qualified or Trainee)

Are you passionate about helping people navigate conflict and find a way forward? Do you believe in fairness, compassion, and making a meaningful difference?

We're a Tasmanian not-for-profit providing mental health, wellbeing and dispute resolution services across our community. From families, individuals to workplaces, we’ve got their backs and thanks to our continued growth we’re looking for our next Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to join the team!

Whether you’re already qualified or looking to step into this work and gain qualifications—we want to hear from you. We’ll support the right person with training and development to become a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) if you’re not already there.

We’re looking for someone available 3 to 5 days per week—let’s chat about what that looks like for you.

The Role:

You'll provide support and mediation to:

Families experiencing conflict, especially around parenting or property settlement

Workplaces navigating disputes or team tensions

Community members in conflict with one another

From intake and screening to mediation, resolution and referral, you'll help people work through tough situations with compassion, structure, and skill.

About You:

You’re someone who:

Communicates clearly and with care

Stays calm and professional under pressure

Is committed to integrity, equity, and supporting others through change

Understands (or is eager to learn about) Family Law, separation, parenting arrangements, and family dynamics

Can manage sensitive and complex conversations with empathy

You’ll also be comfortable with:

Writing clear agreements and reports

Risk assessment and mandatory reporting

Working independently and as part of a collaborative, supportive team

Working within timeframes

Technology including client management systems and Microsoft

Qualifications & Training:

We welcome applications from both experienced practitioners and those ready to grow into the role.

You’ll either:

Already hold a Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution and be registered with the Attorney General’s Department OR

Be eligible and willing to study towards these qualifications (we can help!)

Bonus points if you have experience or training in:

Workplace or community mediation

Child Inclusive Practice

Property and financial settlements

NMAS Accreditation

Law or legal practice

Why join us?

Be part of a purpose-driven team making a genuine difference in people’s lives.

You’ll have real opportunities to make tangible impacts in the lives of others

Flexible work culture, generous leave, and the chance to bring your full self to work.

Ability to access professional supervision, training and health and wellbeing initiatives that recognise you as an individual.

Pathways to qualification (if requierd)

Salary sacrifice benefits up to $15,900 for living expenses and an additional $2,650 for meal and entertainment.

Generous wellbeing initiatives including access to additional paid time off.

Sound like a fit?

We’re not just looking for a FDRP. We’re looking for a values-aligned human—someone who brings professionalism, warmth and a can-do spirit.

Remuneration will be under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award with salary commensurate to experience and hours worked.

Now for the paperwork

To apply, all applications must be lodged via Seek Applications must include:

A current Resume

A short cover letter (of no more than two pages) telling us why you’re our next part-time powerhouse.

Applications close Tuesday 15th July 2025 at 5pm.

Applications are reviewed upon receipt and Positive Solutions reserves the right to close recruitment for this position as needed.
