The Role
New Exciting opportunity for two experienced and compassionate Children’s Counsellors to join our Specialised Family Domestic Violence (SFDV) programs, supporting children and young people impacted by family and domestic violence.
These part-time, max-term contracts (until 30 June 2026) focus on providing trauma-informed interventions to children and young people who have been affected by family and domestic violence.
The service delivers short-term, strength-based responses including safety planning, goal-directed counselling, and support for healing. You'll work alongside a dedicated team in either our Perth or Cannington office to help clients process trauma, build resilience, and restore safe family functioning.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide counselling, case management, and trauma-informed interventions to children and young people impacted by FDV.
  • Conduct assessments and create tailored support plans in line with the client’s needs.
  • Develop and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Co-facilitate groups and support family functioning through targeted interventions.
  • Ensure professional, ethical, and accurate documentation of all client work.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling, Childhood Development, or related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience providing child counselling and working with families experiencing complex needs, including family and domestic violence.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, intake, assessment, and referral.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness and ability to provide outreach services as required.
  • Current National Police Certificate (within 12 months validity)
  • Valid WA Working with Children Card
