We've formed a brand new People & Culture team and operating model, led by our new Chief People & Culture Officer. There's a lot to look forward to in the years ahead.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of People to deliver strategic and operational guidance to our Residential division across the full People & Culture remit. This role is critical in partnering with our the Residential divisional leadership team to shape initiatives that drive the performance of our business and our people.
In this individual contributor role, you'll join the People Partnering team—a group that thrives on building trusted relationships and delivering measurable outcomes. Your expertise will influence key areas ranging from talent acquisition and capability development to employee relations and succession planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic People Initiatives:
Collaborate with the Residential division team to implement People strategies that align with HTW’s overarching People & Culture vision.
Drive critical P&C projects goals across capability, talent acquisition, reward, retention, engagement, and culture.
Employee Relations & Case Management:
Offer expert guidance on employment law, internal policies, and best practices to leaders across the Residential division.
Manage complex employee relations cases, including workplace grievances, performance improvement plans, disciplinary matters, and investigations, ensuring balanced and sound advice.
Employee Lifecycle Management:
Oversee critical aspects of the employee lifecycle—from complex offboarding scenarios (i.e. long-term absences, performance dismissals, redundancies) to new hire success acceleration through diligent probation reviews.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in processing people change requests and standard exits via the HRIS, driving informed People Experience reporting.
Cyclical People & Culture Activities:
Work with the broader P&C team to equip leaders with the skills necessary for performance reviews, goal setting, development planning, and remuneration processes.
Use insights from performance, remuneration and employee engagement projects to drive a culture of high-performance across the Residential division.
Capability Development & Talent Management:
Partner with divisional leadership to identify and address capability gaps.
Drive strategic workforce planning and talent management initiatives, including succession planning and comprehensive talent reviews, to support both immediate and long-term business needs.
What you'll bring to the role:
Professional Experience:
A minimum of 7-10+ years in People & Culture business partnering roles, with experience strategically advising Executive leaders (one level below CEO).
Demonstrable experience across the full People & Culture spectrum
Sound understanding of Australian employment law, with exposure to New Zealand standards being highly regarded.
Education:
A qualification in a business-related discipline is highly desirable.
Personal attributes:
Proven ability to manage multiple competing deadlines within a high-growth environment, including merger and acquisition scenarios.
Experience in building trusted partnerships with senior leaders, with a collaborative, positive, and solution-focused approach.
Some experience in coaching and guiding less experienced team members while upholding high service standards.
