Senior Security Engineer
Job Summary:
Are you passionate about protecting organisations from advanced cyber threats? Join our dynamic Threat Defence team and help design, deploy and manage security technologies that make a real impact.
We’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join our clients team to lead projects and provide hands-on expertise in building and optimising cyber defence capabilities for our customers. This is a full-time position based in Canberra and requires Australian Citienship and an active NV1 AGSVA Security Clearance.

You'll work with tools like Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Defender, Tenable, and Intune, and contribute to projects that uplift Essential Eight maturity. This role is perfect for someone passionate about cyber operations who enjoys working in a collaborative, high-performing team.

What will you be doing?
- Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing management of SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel and/or Splunk)
- Automate detection and response through SOAR solutions
- Work with Microsoft Security stack – including XDR, Defender Suite, Application Control and Intune
- Deploy and manage vulnerability management tools like Tenable or Rapid7
- Build and maintain robust security systems, respond to incidents, and analyse security event data
- Support the development of threat detection rules, dashboards, alerts and reporting
- Present technical concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our Threat Defence capabilities
Skills and experience required to succeed in this role?
- 3+ years in a Security Engineering or similar technical cyber role
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks (e.g. ISM, PSPF, Essential 8, NIST, ISO 27001/31000)
- Proven experience working in or with federal government, defence, or regulated environments
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- Microsoft SC-200, SC-100, or Splunk certifications (e.g. SOAR, Cybersecurity Defence Engineer)
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science or relevant experience
- Background in Defence, Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, or ICT
Clearance required?
- NV1 Clearance or above.
