Macarthur is an independent Anglican co-educational Transition (Pre-Kindergarten) to Year 12 school with a strong academic and co-curricular focus, catering to students of all ability levels. The Headmaster seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator to this position. The successful candidate will join the highly professional, dynamic and industrious English Faculty. The successful applicant will need to teach across all secondary stages. The ability to teach Extension English 1 and 2 would be an advantage.

The staff of Macarthur are beneficiaries of an Apple laptop computer (for the duration of employment), a supportive Christian teaching environment and well-resourced facilities.

Candidates for this role will need to demonstrate:

a passion for teaching and deep knowledge of the syllabus content, notably Stages 4 - 6, including Preliminary Advanced English;

a passion for literature and reading;

a passion for developing creativity and high expectations in student work;

a willingness to add to the curriculum and teaching resources in preparation for the new curriculum;

an innovative approach to teaching and learning;

comprehensive understanding of classroom differentiation; and,

a deep understanding of how students think and learn.

The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate innovative use of ICT in teaching and learning, proficiency in writing teaching programmes, and an understanding of best practices in student assessment and feedback. The desire to contribute to the outdoor education and co-curricular programmes that provide a rich experience for our students and a rewarding sense of job satisfaction for our teachers is imperative.
