Are you a seasoned software leader with a passion for developing people, driving engineering excellence, and delivering high-quality digital solutions? We're seeking a Software Engineering Manager for a 12-month contract based on the Gold Coast.

In this key leadership role, you'll oversee a talented team of engineers and guide the delivery of modern, secure, and scalable applications. You’ll shape engineering practices, support architectural decisions, and ensure compliance in a high-regulation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle, driving delivery excellence.
• Champion secure coding practices and ensure alignment with standards (e.g. Essential 8, OWASP).
• Lead solution design and architecture in line with best practices and government ICT standards.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Collaborate with product teams to define priorities and delivery timelines.
• Prepare project estimates, resource plans and progress reporting.
• Manage cloud costs and resource utilisation (AWS & Azure).
• Promote and maintain workplace safety, security, and information governance.

About You:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experiance in software leadership roles with a strong understanding of SDLCs.
• Proficiency in modern frameworks and languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, SQL.
• Experience working in regulated or high-compliance industries.
• Strong people leadership, communication, and risk management skills.
• Familiar with Agile delivery and various SDLC methodologies.
