Nature-Based Speech Pathologist (Contract – Flexible Hours)
Outdoors, family-centred practice in Melbourne’s inner north

At Nature Talking, we’re on the lookout for a speech pathologist to join our small team on a contract basis. There’s work available up to full-time, and we can be flexible around the right person’s availability and start times.

I know every second job ad says this, but we genuinely are not your usual speech pathology practice.

We work outdoors whenever possible and have a permit to operate along Bracken Creek (an offshoot of Merri Creek), where we hold nature-based sessions. We also have an indoor therapy space and office located in a local neighbourhood house.

In this role, you'd be doing a mix of nature-based, community, and indoor sessions (especially when the weather doesn’t cooperate).

Right now, the team is just me (a sole operator) and one lovely, bubbly allied health assistant you’ll work alongside. We're family-centred, and collaborative in how we approach therapy. We love being engaged in the profession and place lots of importance on professional development and feeling inspired in the work that we do.

About the role:

Supporting children aged 3–12 and their families

Mix of home-based, outdoor, and some indoor (community space) sessions

Starting Term 3 (or flexible for the right person)

Contract role with flexible hours, negotiable to suit your schedule

Family-centred, collaborative and routines-based approach

Work independently with regular supervision and support

We’re looking for someone who:

Has 3+ years’ experience as a speech pathologist

Is comfortable with family coaching and up-skilling parents

Ideally has some experience with routines-based intervention and Neurodiverse affirming approaches to therapy (or is keen to learn)

Enjoys working outdoors and connecting with nature

Brings warmth, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset

Can work both independently and as part of a small, close-knit team
