Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in PDHPE and Geography, aligned with curriculum requirements and tailored to diverse learning needs.
Demonstrate a passion for teaching PDHPE and/or Geography, with a commitment to fostering student growth and achievement.
Provide individualised support to students, particularly those at risk or facing barriers to education, helping them re-engage with learning.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages independence, respect, and active participation.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and external agencies to enhance student outcomes and wellbeing.
Support literacy and numeracy development, integrating strategies that meet the varied needs of students.
Contribute to student wellbeing initiatives, offering mentorship and pastoral care as part of a holistic educational approach.
Engage in ongoing professional learning to continuously improve teaching practice and stay current with educational developments.
Selection Criteria:
Accredited teaching qualifications, with current registration through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Demonstrated experience teaching across a range of subjects in a secondary school environment.
Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and support students in an alternative education setting.
Experience and/or genuine interest in working with disadvantaged or at-risk youth.
Sound understanding of youth development, trauma-informed practices, and student-centred learning approaches.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organisation.
Confidence using technology and digital learning tools to enhance teaching and learning.
Commitment to child safety, including holding a current Working with Children Check and compliance with Child Protection Legislation.
