About the Position
The Office of the Leader of the Opposition is seeking a senior, strategic and creative Senior Communications Adviser to lead high-level communication planning and execution across all channels.
This role is pivotal in shaping the public narrative of the Opposition’s vision for South Australia and developing clear, consistent messaging that connects with the community, and ensuring strong, coherent communication across media, digital, and stakeholder platforms.
It’s a high-impact opportunity to play a key role in one of the most dynamic political environments in the state.

Who We’re Looking For
You’ll bring senior experience in communications, preferably in politics, government, or advocacy. You’ll be a natural storyteller with a sharp strategic mind and an eye for message discipline. Experience in political offices is highly regarded but not essential.
Role & Responsibilities:
Support the development and rollout of the Opposition’s overarching communications strategy.
Shape key messaging for campaigns, policies, and events across all public-facing platforms.
Draft speeches, talking points, stakeholder communications, and digital content.
Support the Leader and Shadow Cabinet in refining their public messaging.
Coordinate cross-channel communication, including media, social, and stakeholder engagement.
Manage fast turnaround communications in high-pressure environments.
Collaborate with policy, digital, and media teams to ensure unified messaging.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in graphic design and comfortable with Adobe suite.
Significant experience in high-level communications, strategy, or public affairs.
Outstanding writing skills and the ability to distil complex issues into clear messages.
Deep understanding of South Australian politics and the media landscape.
Proven track record managing communications for leaders or public figures.
Ability to think ahead, anticipate challenges, and act with political judgment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work discreetly and collaboratively.
Experience managing digital communications and overseeing brand voice.
