The role of Midwife is to provide a comprehensive maternity care service to indigenous women and women having an indigenous baby including antenatal, and postnatal care where appropriate by:
Working within the guidelines for antenatal care to provide safe maternity care within AHPRA standards and scope of practice.
Working collaboratively with GP’s, obstetricians, allied health professionals, Mildura Base Hospital staff and other services to ensure clients receive quality holistic care;
Providing clinical and professional support to both clinical and non-clinical staff including mentoring Aboriginal Health Workers; and
Delivering services with compliance to key performance indicators and reporting requirements.

Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience working in a clinical setting in the provision of antenatal care and community health care service delivery.
Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to high needs families and provide flexible responses to client needs
Ability to communicate effectively with pregnant women, their partners and families and explain technical medical procedures competently.
Ability to work with and impart knowledge to employees, clients and other key stakeholders in the advocacy of health promotion.
Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Current Midwifery registration with AHPRA.
Basic /Advanced Life Support Credentialing.
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
