About the role

Exciting opportunity for a skilled AutoCAD Residential Drafter to join the team at Bird Design on a subcontract basis. As a Drafter, you will be responsible for producing detailed drawings and designs to support the company's residential projects and specific customer criteria. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilize your technical expertise and passion for design in a dynamic, creative environment, while being able to work from home.

Reporting to the drafting manager via email, phone & Teams during business hours, you will have the flexibility of working from home.

What you'll be doing

Prepare 2D AutoCAD drawings and models to support the design and construction process based on conceptual designs provided and detailed inclusions list.

Amend existing AutoCAD drawings when required.

Collaborate with the Bird Design team, Builder’s customer service representatives and sales staff to understand project requirements and translate them into detailed technical drawings using Bird Design templates and instruction from Bird Design management.

Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, standards and regulations as well as Builder's Criteria.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation with assistance from Bird Design management when required.

Work closely with the Bird Design team to identify and resolve any design or drafting issues during the drawing processes.

Correcting your drawings that will be marked up by Bird Design prior to issuing to clients.

What we're looking for MUST HAVES:

MINIMUM 5 years AutoCAD experience as a CAD Drafter within the residential construction industry.

High proficiency in using AutoCAD software. REVIT operators also considered.

FAST turn around of projects for ultimate efficiency is HIGHLY ADVANTAGEOUS.

Strong technical drawing and drafting skills, with an eye for detail.

Strong understanding of NCC building codes, SAPPA regulations and construction methods.

Excellent problem solving and COMMUNICATION skills.

Qualifications in Building Design, Residential Drafting, or a closely related design discipline would be highly regarded. Trade experience is also advantageous.

Applicants must have current Professional Indemnity Insurance cover specifically suited for Building Designers.

Successful applicants will also have their own reliable internet connection, suitable computer & licensed software program to perform said tasks.

A willingness to highly PRIORITIZE and accept direction/ instruction for drafting tasks from Bird Design management.

The candidate will have the skill to ADAPT and be FLEXIBLE in perform drafting tasks required of them.

Self-motivated and prepared to accept deadlines when required.

Excellent COMMUNICATION skills regarding their weekly work arrangements are highly regarded.
